Sometimes the most beautiful connections come from unexpected places. When I attended a styled shoot, I had no idea that one of the talented models there would introduce me to one of the most incredible couples I’ve had the pleasure of working with.
When Stephanie first reached out about capturing her wedding, I was thrilled. Our initial phone call confirmed what I’d hoped—we connected instantly, sharing the same vision and enthusiasm for her big day. Once everything was official, we dove into planning mode! With Stephanie living nearly two hours away, our first order of business was selecting the perfect location for their engagement session. We ultimately chose the JC Raulston Arboretum in Raleigh, North Carolina, a breathtaking venue brimming with romantic settings at every turn.
The day of the session, my excitement reached new heights the moment they arrived. Stephanie emerged from the car in an absolutely stunning white leather and feather dress that took my breath away. Adam brought along his prized car to incorporate into some of their portraits, adding a personal touch that made the session uniquely theirs.
Meeting them in person only confirmed my instincts—this session was destined to be so much fun, and it absolutely was. Looking at their images, you’d never guess we were shooting in super cold temperatures that day. I always bring my cart along, which allowed them to bundle up in coats and warm up between sets. They were absolute rock stars through it all!

After a quick wardrobe change, we headed to a high-rise parking deck for those coveted car shots. This was my first session featuring a client’s vehicle, and I couldn’t have been more excited. While we thought the ground level was chilly, the exposed parking deck brought temperatures to a whole new level. But as we all agreed, the dramatic backdrop was absolutely worth braving the cold.
The entire session was filled with laughter and genuine joy. We wrapped up in my favorite way—with a celebratory champagne spray followed by a toast. I love ending engagement sessions this way because it honors this special milestone in a couple’s journey. After such a lengthy session in the cold, Stephanie and Adam more than deserved to pop some bubbly and toast to their future together.
With the incredible energy and impeccable style they brought to their engagement session, I can hardly wait to see what they have in store for the wedding day. If this session is any indication, it’s going to be absolutely unforgettable!
